Thirsty Thursday: Lavender Green Tea

Welcome to the first installment of Thirsty Thursday! I originally planned on making something lemonade based, but with the recent drop in temperature and Peter having a man head cold, I decided to make something warm.

I’ve never been a huge hot tea fan, but I think that’s because up to this point I’ve been trying black tea based blends. I’ve recently started drinking green tea though and love it. Combine that with lavender and agave and you’ve got a warm soothing drink.

DSCN1100Please take note of the beautiful mug I used to serve this. I’d prefer to use my Boba Fett one, but it was dirty so a Wookie will do.
DSCN1107This is hardly a recipe, but I’ll write it down for those who like step by step instructions.

It’s easier to remove the lavender after steeping if you have an infuser ball or reusable tea bag, or you can just do like me and skim it off the top with a spoon.

Lavender Green Tea
Servings per recipe: 1

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 green tea bag
1/4 teaspoon culinary lavender
2 teaspoons amber agave (light works too, I just like the taste of amber)

Directions:
Bring the water to a boil. In a mug, add the remaining ingredients and pour the water over. Allow to steep for 5 minutes, then remove the lavender. If it steeps too long, it will become bitter. Serve while curled up in a blanket and watching Star Wars.
